Use the Canning Funnel to Gently Serve Soups and Stews

I don’t see myself as being overly concerned with coating or presentation, but I absolutely despise the splatter on the side of my soup plate, at least until I start eating my soup. Of course, they can be “erased”, but it can leave a trace of soup, stew or chili, which is almost worse.

Maybe it’s because I have to take a lot of photos of soups and stews, but stains and splashes have been a constant source of irritation for some time. And if you’re like me — you’re just as annoyed with dirty-walled bowls — I have a solution: use a canning funnel.

I’m not a cannery, but I like to put things in jars, and the canning funnel allows me to place food in those jars without splashing, splashing or dripping – why not show the same courtesy to my bowls? Simply place the funnel in the bowl, pour the soup / stew / chili, etc. into the funnel, then pull out the funnel and let the soup / stew / chili / etc. fall into the center of the bowl without tangling the edges. Here I have some pictures of chicken chili peppers to demonstrate this technique:

Step 1. Place the funnel in the bowl and the food in the funnel.

Step 2. Remove the canning funnel by lifting it straight up.

Step 3. Serve food in a non-splashing bowl.
