These Streaming Services Still Offer Free Trials
People watch a lot of streaming TV – the average person subscribes to five streaming services – but, according to Deloitte, more and more of us are also “on the spot and run away” subscribers, canceling at least one service in the last six months. This is partly due to costs – all of these monthly payments and above. Plus, why pay for content when you’re getting a free trial elsewhere? Here’s a look at the current status of free trial offers from major streaming services.
Services offering a standard free trial
Amazon Prime Video
- Cost: $ 8.99 / month or free with Amazon Prime ($ 12.99 / month).
- Free Trial: If you haven’t been an Amazon Prime member in the past 12 months, you can sign up for a free 30-day trial .
Apple TV +
- Cost: $ 4.99 per month.
- Free Trial: Apple TV + offers a 7-day free trial .
AT&T TV
- Cost: $ 69.99 per month.
- Free Trial: You can cancel your subscription before 14 days .
CBS Full Access
- Cost: from $ 5.99 per month.
- Free Trial: CBS All Access offers a free 7-day trial .
Opening +
- Cost: Plans start at $ 4.99.
- Free Trial: The service offers a 7-day trial .
FuboTV
- Cost : $ 64.99.
- Free Trial: Live Sports has a free 7-day trial .
Hulu + Live TV
- Cost: from $ 64.99.
- Free trial: 7 days .
Show time
- Cost: $ 10.99 per month.
- Free Trial : Showtime offers a 30-day trial .
Sling TV
- Cost: $ 35 / month for Blue (News & Entertainment) or Orange (Sports & Family) plans. You can link both plans for $ 50.
- Free Trial: The live streaming service offers a limited free trial of only 3 days.
YouTube TV
- Cost: from $ 64.99 per month.
- Free Trial: YouTube TV offers a seven-day free trial , which means you can watch the 2021 Super Bowl without spending a cent.
Services you can get for free, but with one catch
Disney +
- Cost: $ 6.99 per month or $ 69.99 per year.
- Free Trial : Disney’s longtime free trial no longer applies. For Tom’s Guide, the only way to get a free trial right now is with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which offers 30 days free for new customers only (although you can simply use a different email address if you’ve already opted out of this service earlier).
HBO Max
- Cost: $ 14.99 per month.
- Free Trial: As of December, HBO Max no longer offers a free trial, although you can get a 20% discount if you pay six months in advance. However, Hulu subscribers can get a 7-day trial if they add HBO Max as an add-on to their subscription. Alternatively, you can also get the Annual HBO Max for free if you sign up for the $ 85 / Month Choice AT&T update (just remember that you will be charged an additional $ 14.99 each month after the year ends).
Services no longer offer a free trial
Netflix
- Cost: from $ 8.99 per month.
- Free Trial: There are currently no free trials available for Netflix. Be careful if prompted by email or text message as it could be a scam .
Don’t forget about free services
As stated in this Lifehacker post, there is a wide variety of free TV and movie streaming options. Notable options are Crackle and the recently released NBC Peacock .
