How to Shuffle Netflix Shows
Netflix will launch a new Shuffle feature in the first half of this year, which is exactly what we need during the pandemic – a way to extend our drinking sessions even longer. While you wait, there are some clever workarounds you can use to shuffle Netflix’s vast library of content right now.
Browser extensions that randomize Netflix
If you are a Chrome user, I recommend checking the following:
- ShuffleFlix : Allows you to jump to a random episode of any TV show you are watching. Don’t just get a random Netflix show that you’re not interested in watching; instead, the experience is akin to the times when you turned on Law & Order and swore you never saw the episode you encountered, even though you’ve probably actually seen it six times already over the years of watching reruns.
- Randflix : Same deal, different expansion. If you’re having trouble with ShuffleFlix, Randflix is a good alternative.
Firefox users can try:
- Netflix Shuffle : This is the Firefox version for other Shuffle Shuffle extensions. However, it only works on a specific list of shows, making this option less impressive for Firefox fans. If you are only interested in one show – say, “The Office” – you can probably find special randomizer extensions for that too.
- Best Netflix : This addon adds a bunch of useful features to the Netflix web interface, including support for ultra-wide displays, the ability to change the volume with your mouse scroll wheel, and a button you can use to skip random Netflix shows.
Anyone can try:
- Netflix Roulette : While this is not a browser extension or anything directly related to Netflix itself, this website can at least pick a random show or movie to watch (based on whatever parameters you give it). If you feel indecisive, like me, every time I look at the vast list of Netflix content, Netflix Roulette will help you exit the menu and jump straight to watching a movie.
IOS shortcuts to Netflix shuffle
If you enjoy watching Netflix on iOS , you have several options to help you get random Netflix content (or episodes of a specific series). Here are two main ones , and here there is one that allows you to choose one of the lists of the best Netflix films. It’s not entirely “random” in the sense that you press a button to change gears and movies, but it’s something.
As for Android …
I haven’t found a suitable one for Android , which is a bummer. The Upflix app can help you shuffle shows to watch, but it’s not as good as a dedicated shuffle button. JustWatch is another tool you can use to at least find what’s available on Netflix, but again, we need a randomizer. Honestly, you’re probably best off using Netflix Roulette to find something to watch and then download that on your Android as usual.
