Goodbye Playlist
There is a reason they sell pre-printed greeting cards. When it comes to expressing real, genuine emotions, some of us are not so good at words. Better to let the poets at Hallmark express our feelings more vividly than we ever could. It’s the same with music: there is a pop song for every emotion, which means there is a potential playlist for every occasion. For some reason, I woke up today thinking about how difficult it is to say goodbye, even if you are happy to see the person leaving. People are complex creatures, and many of us are unmistakably difficult to change something, even if we know that change is for the better. So when change comes in the form of saying goodbye to someone who matters a lot in our life, it can be difficult for us to put our emotional reactions into words (especially without swearing). The songs … there is definitely a playlist for that.
