Reese’s Vodka Is a Gimmick, Not a Treat

I’m not afraid of themed cocktails, but Halloween cocktails, which are heavily sugar-dependent, aren’t really my bag (or plastic pumpkin). I am, however, willing to try anything at least once, even if it’s a vodka infused with Reese’s Pieces.

There are many variations of this infusion on the Internet. The ratios vary, but each recipe boils down to pouring a bunch of Reese’s Pieces into rubbing alcohol, letting that rubbing alcohol in the refrigerator overnight, then filtering it the next day. Candy-filled vodka is sometimes used to make a ” drunk peanut butter cup ” or other similar libation.

At first I thought it would be a waste of both candy and vodka, but then I decided that we might as well spend some bourbon, because bourbon and sweet peanut butter candies seemed more appropriate than vodka and sweet peanut butter candies …

Everything went as you would expect. I don’t want to spoil the image by describing it in words; I think you should see for yourself. In terms of taste, I would not call it “successful”. The vodka smells like Reese’s Pieces, but in the end it’s bad. Bourbon tasted like the worst version of regular bourbon, but hey, at least it smelled like a dry erase marker.

Of course, it was an experience – not so much a “cognitive experience” as “confirming what we already suspected.” If you want candy, eat it. If you want a drink, make a good drink. For a delicious, sweet, seasonal drink, make corn milk punch . You can never go wrong with corn milk punch.
