How to Get the Most Out of Your Schedule

The structure of your day has probably changed a lot. While you may not commute to work anymore, there are still ways to plan your day for optimal productivity.

Daniel Pink is the author of When: The Scientific Secrets of Perfect Timing , and knows what time of day is best for what task.

According to Pink, nearly 80% of people do their analytical work best in the morning. (The exception is night owls, who are best at analytical work during the day.) He suggests blocking your morning to do the hard work you need to focus on — during this time, avoid meetings and emails. Then, set aside afternoon time for you to be creative and collaborate, prioritizing social work that gets you through the day.

Pink also emphasizes the importance of breaks. He says the best breaks are around 10 minutes, include going outside for some fresh air (avoiding screens), and social. So walk with someone for 10 minutes every day and don’t talk about work.
