Would Smashing a Salad on the Counter Make It Better?

There is nothing that we don’t learn from TikTok. Sorry, I mean we haven’t learned anything useful from TikTok. Today’sHack or Wack test is no exception.

A recent video from TikTok user @nutritionbabe suggests that instead of going through all the hassle of exfoliating individual romaine leaves, you could simply smash the entire head of the lettuce on the counter by carefully removing the core and separating all individual leaves.

While it’s always nice if one move can be used to replace multiple moves, is one hard hit really better, easier, safer, or cleaner than just ripping off the leaves? We decided to determine if this “trick” would solve all our salad problems.

The first thing we learned was to test this only on the real heart of the novel, which would be dense enough for the actual breaking process. Any more refined (and therefore better) greens probably won’t work at all for this method; their leaves are fluffy, tasty and nutritious, but they cannot be chopped at the counter.

So did this TikTok hack work? One powerful burst of energy gave us a whole head of usable greens, leaving us plenty of time to assemble accessories and vinaigrette? Watch the video above to find out.
