Make This Year the Year Your Kids Don’t Lose Their Markers

If anyone knows the daily frustration of missing marker caps scattered across the floor – and the resulting dry markers left behind – it’s a kindergarten teacher. But one such teacher has a trick that worked in her class last year and may also work for parents at home this year: tape them all together.

Teacher Lindsay Sale Desormo posted this tip on Facebook a few weeks ago as a tip for elementary school teachers; but considering that many parents will be teachers of their young children this year, you can try this trick at home:

It was a real child’s miracle, all of you! Not a single hat was found on the floor, not a single marker withered! It was also GREAT fine motor work for those little fingers who learned how to close and remove the lids of each marker at the beginning of the year!

In a series of photographs, Desormo shows us how she arranges a set of nine markers, and then wraps the caps with duct tape to create a marker mass that prevents the cap from rolling and falling into the void, never to be seen. again.

This method not only prevents the caps from losing and the markers from drying out, but it also makes it much easier for kids to find the color they want, which means less time digging in their desk and more time. the actual painting and creation.
