Fix IPhone Green Tint Error With IOS Update

Has your iPhone screen been looking a little sore lately? A software update may be just the medicine he needs.

IPhone screens with a green tint have been reported since June. According to users who encountered this error, the green display is only shown for a few seconds when the phone is turned on or when it goes into dark mode or night mode.

The bug appears to primarily affect iPhone X and iPhone 11, 11 Pro and 11 Max, but it has also appeared on other iOS devices running iOS 13.4, 13.4.1, 13.5, or 13.5.1. The good news is that you don’t have to send your device to Apple’s repair service to fix the problem – just install the iOS 13.6.1 update and the green distortion is gone.

Nobody knows why your iPhone looks green

The error can be corrected, but its cause remains a mystery. According to Apple iOS / iPadOS 13.6.1 Patch Notes, a software temperature control issue causes instant display discoloration, but the exact mechanism that gives your screen that tint (and how Apple fixed it) remains unclear.

I’ve seen some speculation on the forum that there might be a hardware throttling issue, but the problem tends to occur when the screen is using less power rather than more. So throttling the hardware to fix this doesn’t make much sense.

Miscellaneous fixes

IOS / iPadOS 13.6.1 patch doesn’t just fix the painful screen tint. It also fixes several other iPhone / iPad bugs, so it’s worth installing even if you didn’t have a green display problem.

One of the bugs fixed is the nasty storage bug where junk system files weren’t automatically deleted – which is what iOS should do when the device runs out of storage space, which leads to the iPhone filling up with junk files. The patch also fixes a bug that disabled COVID-19 infection notifications.

You can update your iPhone or iPad to the latest software by going to Settings> General> Software Update.
