How Do You Deal With Food Quarantine Fatigue?

When my town just started to close in March, I went to the restaurant’s grocery store and got my fill of pasta, canned tomatoes, eggs, onions, a few non-perishable foods, and lots of hot sauce. I thought we needed a month or so to stay inside, and I made a complete plan to avoid going to the grocery store all the time.

Obviously, things did not work out that way. I wear a mask to go to the store about once a week, and shop “normally” by buying fresh, perishable food to cook at home. The only real difference in how I eat now versus how I ate before is that I haven’t been to a restaurant in months – and that’s a big difference. But it’s not that big, especially when you consider that I really only have one person to feed for a while, and this person is an adult who can feed himself if necessary.

But people with children experience something completely different. Instead of cooking once a day and possibly packing a lunch box, parents should prepare three full lunches for their kids (which I hear can be harsh critics), and many of them do this while working from at home and / or on a tight budget. Sounds boring, to be honest! If starting quarantine cooking was all about baking sourdough and “healing” ourselves by “truly connecting” to our food, no matter where we are, we need to support ourselves and our family with food that doesn’t drain your food. that fear. energy reserves.

I mean, maybe I’m wrong. Maybe you absolutely love how much you cook. Maybe you have blossomed into a real chef and you are really unwinding chopping vegetables every night. But if not, that’s okay.
