Support Black Lives Matter by Watching This Youtube Video

If you don’t have the money to spare, or if you’ve already made a donation to organizations fighting racial injustice, you can still financially support Black Lives Matter by watching a YouTube video .

Youtubersha Zoe Amira compiled anhour-long video featuring black artists – musicians, poets and artists, of whom all advertising proceeds go to charitable foundations, memorial funds and human rights organizations. All you have to do is watch or listen. If you look, you’ll see slides from visual effects creators, music videos from singers and messages from actors, and information on where to follow artists’ work online.

The best way to ensure the number of views is to enable ads, allow them to play, and watch the entire video with the volume turned on. You can turn down the volume of your device, but do not turn off the video.

YouTube commenters suggest that you can skip ads after 30 seconds, or disable the tab the video is playing on (in Chrome, you need to disable the entire site unless you download a third-party extension), but that won’t hurt you just keep the video showing low in background or even click on an ad to maximize your revenue.

You can also watch the video multiple times, but don’t just play it, or your viewing may be flagged as spam. Instead, follow the advice of YouTube users and watch three to five random videos of varying lengths between periods of watching that video to signal that you are watching content normally.

Since Amira posted this video on May 30, other people have pledged to support Black Lives Matter. For example, Revive Music’s 24/7 hip-hop stream directly connects viewers to the NAACP viaa donation button . And videoslike thesefeaturing black artists and fitness professionals also promise to donate ad revenue to social justice organizations.
