Host an Anglophile Watch Party With the BBC

The BBC is testing a new tool, BBC Together , which allows multiple users to watch the same BBC content at the same time. Everything you watch will be in sync with the ‘host’ user stream, so everyone will see the same thing at the same time without the need for third-party apps or browser extensions – all you have to do is create a custom link using BBC Together. and share with your contacts.

The service allows you to watch content from various BBC platforms with multiple contacts, including:

Anyone with a free BBC account can try the service for free for the next three months via the BBC Taster website, and one stream supports up to 50 people, so you can easily get your friends and family together for remote parties (note that BBC Together is still in testing and may not always work as expected.)

How to use the BBC together

  1. Go to the BBC Together Taster page .
  2. Click “Try”.
  3. Click OK.
  4. You will be prompted to log in with your BBC account. Click Register Now and follow the onscreen instructions to create a new one. (Note: Users in the US and other countries outside the UK may need VPN assistance to access BBC content.)
  5. Once logged in, find the content you want to watch on one of the websites / apps listed above.
  6. Copy the link for what you will be watching and paste it into BBC Together. This will generate a new link that you can share with others and join your stream – all they have to do is click on it.
