Use Your Smartphone to Watch YouTube Videos and More With Friends Using Airtime
If you want to watch movies online with friends, the pandemic has provided us with several options.
Netflix Party has been around for a while, but at the time we are at home, it has gained a lot of popularity. We later found Vemos , which is essentially the same thing, but allows you not only to watch Netflix with friends, but also things like Hulu and Disney +.
It’s all great when you’re watching something on your computer, but how about watching something on your phone instead?
This week we came across an app that lets you watch things with your friends on your phone: Airtime .
You can’t watch everything you want, but you can watch YouTube and Twitch streams, as well as some specially curated movies and TV shows and ringtones from Soundcloud.
As with applications like Houseparty, you start by creating a “room” to which you can invite your friends. Rooms can be public if you are open to all your friends, or secret if you prefer to invite a select group.
After you start working, you can video chat or watch something. The halls can accommodate up to 10 people at a time.
Admittedly, the customization isn’t great. You need to add three friends to actually go through the registration process. While you might be joining a group chat platform to talk to a real group of people, this isn’t the best option if you’re just planning to join in to watch with one buddy.
Once you enter, creating a room is as simple as paying for all this content.
If you live in a home where there are not as many computers as there are people, this can be a great option to give the child without a computer (or the mom who borrowed her) the opportunity to watch videos with friends as well.
