These Airlines Now Require You to Wear a Mask on Board.

If you plan to board the plane any time soon, you need to bring your mask for the trip. While it may seem like a pretty obvious statement at this point, last week’s flight from Miami to New York went viral, perhaps in many ways because a fairly significant number of passengers on the crowded flight weren’t wearing masks.

We talked a lot about the benefits of wearing a mask in terms of preventing the spread of germs ; Now many airlines won’t let you get on board if you don’t have one.

JetBlue was the first airline to adopt this policy earlier this week; Delta, American, United and Frontier also followed suit yesterday.

Here are the rules for each airline, many of which go into effect on Monday:

JetBlue

Effective May 4 , all JetBlue customers are required to wear face masks when traveling, which may include items such as scarves and bandanas. The policy includes check-in for the flight, boarding when you are in the air, and when you get off the plane.

American

Effective May 11, American Airlines requires all passengers on board to wear face masks. From May 1, all flight attendants will wear face masks, and additional face masks and disinfectant wipes will be available to passengers.

Delta

On May 4, Delta requires that all passengers wear masks for the face , as well as all employees and contractors Delta, occupying positions in which they can not always be at a distance of six feet from the other.

As with JetBlue, camouflage is required throughout the entire journey with the airline, including the check-in lobby, Delta Sky Club, boarding gate, bridge and on board, excluding meal service.

Combined

From May 4, United will require all passengers to wear face masks. For those who don’t have one, United will provide face masks for free. Face masking is also required for all United employees on board. Face masking has become mandatory for flight attendants on United flights since April 24.

The border

Frontier requires the use of camouflage masks for its flight crews from April 13th, but from May 8th, this policy will apply to passengers as well.

Unlike many other airlines, Frontier will not offer face masks to customers; they will need to arrive at the airport on their own.
