Get Your Free Copy of Total War: Shogun 2 Before May 1st

Windows and Mac: The best things in life are free, right? As fun as it is to get extra Wendy Nuggets , I prefer the free stuff that can give me over 100 hours of fun. And that’s why I’m thrilled to see anyone get a free copy of the critically acclaimed (and addictive) Total War: Shogun 2, a game that combines super-fun top-down world management with incredible real-time army battles. …

I don’t even want to think about how much time I’ve spent on the Total War franchise since the first Shogun: Total War debuted in 2000. Now it seems like there is a Total War game for just about any franchise. or a period of time you can think of – even including Warhammer, but only Age of Sigmar, not 40K. ( A boy can dream .)

Total War: Shogun 2 might come out in 2011, but it’s still a great way to spend a day (or two, or a lot). And if you’ve never played any of the Total War games before, this is the best way to get into the franchise. While they all have their quirks and unique traits, the basic gameplay remains fairly similar: rule your empire by issuing turn-based commands on a beautiful map from top to bottom, and engage in real-time combat with your (hopefully) giant army whenever diplomacy stops. work.

The only caveat regarding these games is that this is not Starcraft . Smart combat tactics are highly recommended, as simply pushing all of your melee units forward as if they were zerg probably won’t win you many battles. It is recommended that you let the enemy army eat a healthy amount of your gladiator -style arrows before distracting them with your infantry so you can mow them down from behind with your cavalry. At least that’s how I created my empire in feudal Japan.

To get your free copy of the game, simply log on to Steam before May 1st (10:00 AM PT), add it to your cart, and complete the transaction. That’s all. You will have it for as long as you want, which will be at least a month if you are not completely destroyed in your early battles. And if so, I implore you to keep playing; it takes time to master the basics, but once you do, you will pave your way to victory.
