Watch Elmo’s Pandemic ‘Playdate’ Special
A pandemic is a frightening and confusing time for even the most mature, rational, and conscientious of us. Imagine how unpleasant it must be for kids who used to go to kindergarten, grandmother’s house and library, and now … everyone lives at the computer. Luckily, they still have Elmo.
Sesame Workshop, the non-profit organization behind Sesame Street , has announced a simultaneous broadcast titled Sesame Street: Elmo’s Game as part of its new Caring for Each Other initiative , which aims to support parents during the coronavirus crisis. The in-game event will feature familiar faces including Grover, Cookie Monster and Abby Cadabby, as well as celebrities Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tracy Ellis Ross.

As you can see, playdate accepts the video conferencing format that we’ve all become familiar in recent weeks. According to Sesame Workshop , friends will sing songs, play games, and take dance breaks throughout the game day.
The 30-minute special airs Tuesday, April 14 at 7:00 PM ET on WarnerMedia (HBO, HBO Latino, TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, Boomerang, and truTV) and PBS Kids 24/7 and streaming platforms. Selected PBS stations will also rebroadcast the special throughout the month.
