Try These Scientific Experiments Created by Dyson Engineers
Dyson engineers want to know: Are your kids ready for a challenge ? Well, they may not have been there before, but they have been at home for a month now and they are bored. Now is a good time to try something new.
The James Dyson Foundation has developed 44 science and technology problems – probably better known as science experiments – that children can do at home. They include many ingredients or tools that you already have in your kitchen or home. Tasks include creating:
- Shish kebab from balls
- Underwater volcanoes
- Tornado in a bottle
- Meteorological balloons
- Fire extinguishers
- Dancing raisins
- Lava lamps
- Invisible ink
- Cardboard boats
- Water clock
And if you or your kids are a bit like me, you might just enjoy watching the engineers do some experiments themselves and save you work. Spaghetti bridges made by mechanical engineers , anyone?
You can also see how engineers create cardboard chairs , periscopes , balloons, and more.
In addition to simple instructions and illustrations for each task, the foundation also provides a checklist in a downloadable PDF so kids can check the boxes as they complete each task and keep track of how much they’ve done so far.
