How to Watch Instagram With Friends in Video Chat

Since we currently all live in the world of video chats, Instagram has introduced a new feature that makes it easier for you and those you chat with on the service to share the best and worst social media. … Without interrupting your video call, you can all watch the same videos at the same time – or comment on your favorite photos by viewing them together.

I find this a much more elegant solution than sharing friends and asking, “Hey, did you watch that video I sent you?”, But that’s just me.

To get started, start a video call with your friends by clicking on the arrow icon in the upper right corner of the main Instagram user interface and choosing the icon that looks like a video camera in the same place. Pick your friends to talk to – up to six at a time – and go. In the video chat interface that appears, find the “Media” button in the lower right corner:

Tap that and a new section will appear, displaying by default all the Instagram posts you’ve previously liked. Choose one of them – a photo or a video – or tap a bookmark or explore the icons to view posts you’ve previously saved, or a regular “recommended Instagram” feed of random content from around the service.

Anything you click will go to the main feed for all participants to view the video at the same time.

If it’s a video, it will repeat until you find something else to watch. Feel free to sarcast as much as you need until someone adds something else of interest to the group video call.

While this is not the newest feature, it is certainly useful during these tough times filled with video conferencing . At the very least, it will allow me and my friends to focus on the main thing – the comments of cute animals – and share our thoughts in real time, instead of waiting for hours for those boring text responses like “omg so chonk”.
