Grow Green Onions in a Cup of Water
Onions are an extremely useful all-round bow . If you love cooking with onions (aka green onions) but are worried about running out, you can put the white ends in a glass of water, where they turn into delicious new onions.
Just put the tips of the roots in a glass of water and place this glass on a sunny window, and change the water about once a week. After about five days, you should be able to start harvesting the green ends of the green onions, depending on how much green you used in the beginning. Just cut off what you need for your dish – you can take up to 70% of the greens, leaving the rest to keep growing.
