Start Your Weekend With Rye Pulp

Although I have a stable bar cart situation, I rarely drink at home. At least I rarely drank at home before . Since I started social distancing, I’ve rediscovered several forgotten bottles like my best friend: pineapple rum.

You may think of pineapple rum from cocktails like this summer old fashioned , this crazy daiquiri and the Palmetto cocktail . All well and good, but nothing is quite as quiet and deadly as this super-drunken, rather sweet mix of Old Overholt pineapple rum and rye, and honestly, this is the kind of strong drink we all need right now.

It is a cocktail made entirely of spirits and a little simple syrup. Pineapple rum and simple rum make it sweet and tasty, while rye gives it a spicy note.

To make the yellow pulp yourself, you will need:

  • 2 oz Plantation Pineapple rum
  • 30g Old Overholt rye (or other rye if you like)
  • 1/4 oz 1: 1 simple syrup

Pour everything into a glass filled with ice and stir until the glass is very cold. Strain into a chilled compartment glass and enjoy. If you want to use the fourth ingredient, you can squeeze a small slice of lime into a glass and toss everything in there. This makes the descent even smoother, which may or may not be good.
