How to Get the Most Out of Your Broom

When the broom craze hit the internet, we thought there must be more efficient ways to use the broom than just stand on it.

So here are some of our favorite ways to get the most out of your sweeping experience as well as getting the most in your dust pan.

When talking about trash trays, everyone is familiar with the line of trash trays that forms with every sweep of the broom. To prevent this, place a piece of duct tape (or neater tape if you have a delicate floor) over the edge of the dust pan. Swipe over the ribbon and delete so that there is no line underneath.

If you find that dust often escapes from the sump, try wetting the sump with water first. This will improve the adhesion of the hair balls and bunnies, and then you can simply wipe them off in the trash can.

To make the dirt really stick to the floor, attach a tennis ball to the broomstick. Use it as a stiff brush for dirt or spills.

Finally, keep the broom bristles fresh by combing them with a wide-toothed comb. You will be surprised (and resentful) to see the dust getting entangled in your bristles, preventing you from using the full power of your broomstick.
