How to View or Delete Your Huge List of “other” Google Contacts
Here’s a handy trick if you’ve ever tried to find an old Gmail contact or unsaved number on Android: it turns out that Google maintains a list of all the Gmail accounts you’ve ever sent or received via email, including those you didn’t. … t save in your contacts as “Other contacts”.
This list is easy to find on the web, but you can now find your unsaved Other Contacts on your Android devices through the Contacts app. It looks like this feature appeared several updates ago, but it was only officially mentioned by Google in the February 12, 2020 app update (version 3.17.1).
Find “other” contacts online
- Go to contacts.google.com/other (sign in with your Google account if prompted).
- Trim as needed. If your list is huge and you want to exclude only a few names from your list, or combine any information with existing contacts, use the search function to highlight specific people. Google includes any publicly available contact information (such as their name, email address and phone number, if available).
How to find “Other” contacts on your Android device
- Open the Contacts app.
- Enter the contact’s name or email address in the search bar.
- The search results should be automatically populated with suggested contacts that match your search, first showing “Saved” contacts and then “Other” contacts from your Google list.
- Click on the listing for more details. You will be able to add it to your official contacts, but you will not be able to remove it from your “Other” list. To do this, you need to open the aforementioned website.
Note. Searching for a phone number will only return “Other” results if that number is associated with an account in the Other Contacts list or a public Google contact (such as a company listed on Google Maps). Otherwise, a phone number search will only show the unsaved numbers from which you called or received calls, and will not display any personal contact information.
