How to Hide Your Accidental Instagram Like

This has happened to most (if not all) of us, and it’s extremely embarrassing. You sit there late at night and browse the Instagram feed of an old friend / acquaintance / partner. This is fine as long as your finger doesn’t twitch slightly and you accidentally “like” their post 47 weeks ago.

The situation may seem hopeless, but rest assured, it is not. The next time this happens to you, here is a tip shared by a Twitter user , in case of extreme, mortifying emergency:

Change your name and profile photo

If you accidentally like someone’s photo on Instagram and they have push notifications enabled, the person who posted the photo will see it. Even if you delete something like that right away, it will be visible. However, according to Instagram , the warning will disappear shortly after you delete it. So your new profile doesn’t have to stay that way forever. Until then, here’s what you should do:

  1. Switch your account to private if you are public.
  2. Go to your Instagram page and click the profile icon in the bottom right corner.
  3. Click “Edit Profile” at the top of the page.
  4. Change your name, bio, and profile photo.

It might sound over the top and take a lot of work for one embarrassing one, but if you are in a position where you really can’t afford to like even one photo, then you know it’s worth it.
