How to Stop Twitter Trolls and Clear Your Feed

Twitter can be a dump full of bots, trolls, and guys with answers . Fortunately, there are several built-in privacy and security tools you can use to minimize the amount of junk in your feed. In the video above, I’ll show you how to do this.

Unsubscribe

The most obvious first step to cleaning up your Twitter feed is transferring the accounts you follow to Marie Kondo. Don’t want to see your ex from college fall down the alternative right’s rabbit hole in real time? Unsubscribe. Tired of your ex-roommate constantly texting about just enjoying being alone with her cat? Unsubscribe. Just keep in mind that this doesn’t stop them from following you or texting you if your private messages are open.

Dumb

If you don’t want to completely unsubscribe from someone, but just want to take a break from their messages, disconnect them. Their posts will no longer appear in your feed, but you can still manually visit their account and view their posts. If this person mentions you or sends you a private message, you will still receive notifications.

Block

This is your best tool against people you absolutely don’t want to communicate with. If you block someone, they won’t be able to follow you, write you messages, or appear in your feed. You won’t be able to see their account, and they won’t be able to see yours. This is the best way to completely end Twitter communication, and you shouldn’t be afraid to use this tool like a Jedi’s lightsaber.

Disable words and phrases

A certain topic or trend can often become pervasive on Twitter, and this is where this tool comes in handy. Are you some heartless monsters who are tired of seeing all these Baby Yoda memes? Just block the words “Baby Yoda” and any tweets containing those words won’t show up in your feed or notifications.

Ignore Twitter

After all, how much Twitter you check is up to you. If this has become a bad habit, there are several tools you can use on your phone to limit screen usage or block apps during certain hours of the day. I also made a video about it.

Delete Twitter

Nuclear solution, baby. It is impossible to get into online trolling if you are offline.
