How to Use Google’s Dedicated Search Features for the 2020 Oscars

Tomorrow is the 92nd Annual Academy Awards. In honor of the awards, Google has introduced several Oscar-specific search functions to help you prepare for the red carpet.

Search is the biggest update. When you search for Oscars 2020 on your phone, you’ll get a complete rundown of Oscar history, including past category winners, as well as a complete list of this year’s nominees.

If you are interested in a specific actor or actress, you can narrow your search using his name and Oscar. During the show, you will also be able to see live images from Getty, as well as short videos of the show in search. And if you just want to know who the winners are, they’ll appear in searches as the show progresses.

A Google search will show short “cameos” of some of the nominees. These short videos will feature everyone from actors to editors and costume designers, and the nominees will share what it feels like to be an Oscar and what their craft is all about.

As you can imagine, Google Assistant has been updated with answers to a number of Oscar-related questions. You can ask the assistant questions such as:

  • “Hey Google, when will the Oscars be awarded?”
  • “Ok Google, who’s nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role?”
  • “Ok Google, who is the Academy Award nominated for Best Picture?” hear the nominees. You can also add, “Who will win the best film?” to find out the forecast of the Assistant.
  • Can’t wait to win the award yourself? Just say, “Ok Google, give me an award,” and the Assistant will present her own awards, such as Best Actor in a Conversation with Google Assistant.

And perhaps the most important Oscar-related update from Google: Tenor will be on hand at the event to create Oscar-related GIFs all night. You can check them out and share them in real time on the Oscar’s official Tenor page .

The Oscars will officially kick off tomorrow at 8:00 pm ET / 5:00 pm. If you’re still lagging behind this year’s nominated films, we’ve created a list to help you figure out where you can watch them all .
