How to Pre-Order the Motorola Razr

We’ve heard about the resurrected Motorola Razr phone for years, but finally there are a few days left before the official start of pre-order: January 26th. We’ll show you where to pre-order, but first, let’s quickly recap the specs of the phone.

We first officially got to know the upcoming Razr relaunch back in November after rumors swirled for months that Motorola was looking to bring the classic device back in the form of a foldable smartphone. The phone’s most impressive feature is its 6.2-inch, 2142 x 876-pixel POLED foldable display (quite a lot). Unlike the book-like Samsung Galaxy Fold , the new Razr folds horizontally – much like the flip phones that its name suggests.

In terms of interior hardware, the Razr has:

  • Snapdragon 710 processor.
  • 128GB internal storage (cannot be expanded)
  • 6 GB memory
  • 2510mAh battery (rechargeable via USB-C)

Other notable features include a second external OLED screen to display notifications and other information when the phone is closed; 16MP rear camera and 5MP front camera; and a fingerprint sensor. It will also run Android 9 Pie out of the box. These are respectable specs, but not quite the flagship level of 2020, and will be slower than, say, the Pixel 4, iPhone 11, or Galaxy S10. The foldable design is undoubtedly an advantage here.

How to pre-order your Razr

The new Razr will cost $ 1,500 at launch, or can be funded at $ 62.49 a month for 24 months. That’s pretty cool for a mid-range phone if you ask me, but hey, nostalgia is a hell of a drug and those curving screens aren’t cheap.

Even if price is not an issue for you, you may have to change your phone service to get it. Razr only supports the Verizon network, there is no unlocked version available. If you really need this phone but aren’t using Verizon, you’ll need to change carriers or open a new service account.

The Motorola Razr will go on sale at Walmart, Verizon, and Motorola from January 26, 2020, although both Verizon and Motorola have their own online store pages for the new phone. Skip pre-ordering and you can pick up your Razr from online and retail stores on February 6th.
