Create a Dungeons & Dragons Character With the Instagram Filter
Instagram’s “What are you ____” filters are still going strong – at least judging by the number of Disney characters I’ve seen in my friends’ stories lately. And as interesting as it is to know that I would be a fool at Taco Bell, most of these filters are obviously more fun than practical. In fact, I only found one that is really useful, and it is primarily for Dungeons & Dragons .
Enable this filter, which you’ll find by opening a Gozuki account on your mobile device, tapping and tapping on his ‘ filterz ‘ story to find it – and you can cast a completely new character for your next Dungeons & Dragons adventure in seconds … It seems, as it were, something like.
One of the specialties of the Gozuki filter is that you don’t get the number of rolls, only the range of values. It also doesn’t seem to take into account the actual rules of D&D – given how difficult it would be to roll an ultra-low ability score if you were using the normal 4d6-drop-one character generation method.
What does it mean? The filter is good if you want to get a general idea of what your character might be. For example, maybe I’ll write that I want it to have low strength, but incredible Charisma and Dexterity, depending on how the bands on the filter are filled. And since the filter also gives you a randomized alignment, race, and class, you basically have everything you need to get started – if you make a reasonable assumption about your actual ability scores. And since you’re on Instagram, you can share your newfound character with the world. Perhaps your followers will even help you come up with a name.
I understand if this all sounds too silly. Fortunately, there are enough resources on the web that you can use to scroll the character the old-fashioned way , digitally ( and then some others ) and even through Google if you so desire. Who knows, maybe next time you can tweet a character. Oh wait …
