How to Recover Disappearing Google Pixel App Icons

Some Pixel owners are worried about a strange issue, and Google still hasn’t released a solution for this particular problem. Apparently, some people running the December 2019 security update – if you even have the option to download it, or maybe not – are noticing that various app icons on their Pixel devices are disappearing.

The issue is not related to any pixels as all Pixel 2, Pixel 3, and Pixel 4 users have reported an issue. And you’ll know if you have it, because all you’ll see is an empty space in your Pixel Launcher and the app name below where the icon should be (but not).

You can still click on the app’s name or where the icon should be to launch it, but you’ll need to get a little more creative to restore the icon.

As reported by Android Authority , you can try restarting the home screen launcher by going to Settings> Apps & notifications> App info , downloading the Pixel Launcher, tapping Storage, and then tapping Clear data. Even so, you may still have disappearing icons, but this is a potential solution worth investigating while you wait for Google to roll out its own fix. A simple restart of your Pixel can also help, but some users have reported that the bizarre issue persists.
