Reflecting on the Past Year More Meaningfully
As the end of the year approaches, you may be coming to the realization that, again, you have not implemented a single resolution since January 9th. Or you can’t even remember what your decisions were. Or, even better, you didn’t make any decisions because you have become wise over the years and no longer want to set yourself up for failure.
However, this time of year always seems like a good time to look forward and look back to reflect on your life, relationships, and career. And maybe even more, this year is also approaching the end of the decade . Chances are, for better or for worse, your life looks very different today than it did at the end of 2009. Maybe thinking deeply about your last year / decade is intimidating. Fortunately, writer Jennifer Romolini has a better and softer formula by which we can judge ourselves:
We may have made some mistakes, we may still be stuck in the same job with a boss we hate, but heck, we probably learned a thing or two . Surely we helped someone . Of course, at some point in the last 365/3 650 days we have felt some satisfaction. And hopefully in our lives we’ve built more meaningful connections with non-assholes than with assholes.
All of this is worth noting and celebrating.
