Convert Your IPhone to IPod With Rewind [updated]

Updated: 12/16/2019 10:50 AM ET: After the Rewound app hit wildly, Apple removed it from the iOS App Store . The creator of the app is directing fans to Rewound.app for future updates, but this site is clearly overwhelmed at the time of publication.

iOS: Here’s a silly thing to do on Friday. Download Rewound and listen to your Apple Music library (streamed or existing) through your old Click Wheel iPod interface.

The limited version is available for free, but $ 1.99 gives you access to the full version of the app, and if you like the app after a trial run, you can pay as well.

Rewound is an unofficial app. To be accepted on the App Store (unlike other retro iPod apps that weren’t ), the app couldn’t include any Apple branding or corporate identity – it couldn’t mimic an iPod out of the box. You must upload the image of the iPod steering wheel yourself. Here’s how.

  1. Use the default buttons to go to Settings. Turn on winding navigation .
  2. Then select ” Skin” and ” Load Skins” .
  3. GIF will demonstrate how to save a photo to your library. Choose Twitter or Weibo , you don’t need to have an account.
  4. On any of them, you will see several iPod scroll wheels. Choose the one you like and tap it.
  5. On Weibo, press and hold the download button in the upper right corner, then select Add to Photos .
  6. On Twitter, tap and hold an image and select Add to Photos . Click Finish in the upper left corner.
  7. Select Add cover from photos .

The app should tell you that it is switching to “Layout 3” – by moving the buttons behind the loaded skin so you can actually scroll with the scroll wheel.

You can download cute custom scroll wheels that will make it work less like an iPod and more like setting up Winamp. By the way, Winamp is back too, but only for Windows.
