Use Google Assistant to Quickly Buy Movie Tickets

Android users can now let Google Assistant buy and book movie tickets thanks to the new Google Duplex feature, which allows AI to independently access and navigate Chrome web pages – much like Duplex AI allows Google Assistant to call restaurants or hotels to book on your behalf .

At launch, the feature supports over 70 theater chains such as AMC and MJR Theaters, as well as ticketing services such as Fandango or Movietickets.com, even if they don’t have an app or their websites aren’t usually set up for mobile browsers. Not only is this easier than navigating these companies’ websites directly, but potentially faster than buying and booking your own seats, which can help you land on incredibly popular movies before they go wrong.

How to use the new ticketing feature:

  • On your Android device, open the Google Assistant and search for nearby movie shows.
  • On the results page, click on the show time for which you want to buy tickets, and a new window with purchase options will appear.
  • Tap the Buy Tickets icon in the Google Assistant next to the service or website you want to use.
  • You will need to confirm that you want to use the Google Assistant to purchase tickets for you and then accept any website cookies.

Unlike when Google’s AI makes a phone call for you and makes reservations for you, buying movie tickets takes a little more effort. Google Assistant will ask you questions such as how many tickets you want or which seats to reserve (if applicable).

You will also need to confirm your final order and payment information before purchasing your tickets. However, it’s much easier (and faster!) Than scrolling through a few pages and typing in all this information yourself.
