Reduce Procrastination by Turning Negative Feelings Into Positive Ones

Procrastination is one of those things we all face. Sometimes you put off calling a friend to give bad news, and sometimes you end a work project. In all cases, what you are procrastinating is likely to need to be done, often sooner rather than later.

This week Fast Company published an article with great advice on how to deal with procrastination: turn your negative feelings into positive ones.

Usually the reason we postpone a project is because we expect a negative outcome, at least to some extent. Instead, try to give a positive touch to things to help you get over them.

For example, although the news you have to give your friend is bad, consider how much better it will get when he hears the news and can move on. What is your big project? Think about how cool it will be when you do it, how it will bring you closer to your goal, or become a reliable addition to something else you are working on.

The Fast Company article also encourages you to start each day by pondering one of your recent successes, and to think (or write!) For a few minutes each day about some of the things you are grateful for.

Finally, be confident that you will pass the test and do a good job. If you are unsure of yourself, it will be difficult for you to move forward. If you do this, you could potentially be unstoppable.
