How to Disable Individual Threads in IOS 13

Calling and ringing your smartphone’s notifications are part of daily life. While it helps us stay on top of things to do, the constant noise can cause anxiety. And there’s no worse culprit for unnecessary notifications than an inbox full of messages you’ve never read.

IPhone and iPad users can always change system preferences to ignore all email notifications (or even all notifications, period) in Settings> Notifications , but this is probably overkill if you only need to disable a few specific conversations that just won’t leave you alone. … Fortunately, there is an easy way to turn off individual threads in iOS 13 and iPadOS, although this option is hidden in a non-intuitive place and some users may not be aware of it.

How to disable individual themes in Apple Mail:

  1. Open the Apple Mail app.
  2. Click to view the conversation you want to disconnect.
  3. Tap the Reply arrow to open the options menu.
  4. Tap Mute.

Hiding the mute option behind the answer button is an odd choice, but useful nonetheless. You will no longer receive notifications for new messages in a muted thread, although messages will still appear in your inbox as unread. If you ever need to quickly find silent conversations, go to Settings> Mail and turn on Organize by Topic. This will consolidate all of your disconnected streams into one place in your Apple mail inbox list, making them easier to manage or bulk delete.
