Best Features in the New Todoist Essentials Update

One of our favorite business apps , the appropriately named Todoist , is getting a big update today. You will see it roll out over the next 24 hours or so, and all the new features that make Todoist even easier to use deserve to be given a try.

According to Todoist, all of these features are available for all free and paid versions of the service. This is great news for anyone still trying to dive into task management and don’t want to spend $ 3 a month on Todoist Premium.

New Todoist Sections

You can now add separate “sections” to the projects you are working on, which then allows you to better organize the various tasks within the project. Of course, you can always get creative with padding, labels, and priorities to sort out different tasks, but these dedication sections make things a lot easier.

Say hello to Task Viewer

Todoist now has a dedicated Task View that you can use to better handle the many tasks you’ve told yourself to do. You can edit all of the usual task details in this dedicated view – due dates, priorities, and comments – and a new dedicated subtask tab makes it easy to keep track of the smallest details of what you need to get done.

New iOS and Android tricks to add tasks faster

If you’re using the Todoist app on iOS or Android , you now have a few more tricks for adding tasks to Trusted To-Do Lists. Todoist has redesigned the “quick add” option that now gives you the ability to add task reminders right from the interface. You can also drag the big red Add button anywhere in the task list or as a subtask of an existing task to add a new item right away. This only works on iOS at the moment, but support for this Android feature is in development.

Stop looking for common shortcuts

This is a small tweak, but useful. Now, when you use a shortcut that you have shared with others, such as your work colleagues, those shortcuts will appear in a separate Sharing section in the shortcut drop-down menu. This will help you more easily separate tasks that others need to know from tasks that are likely only of concern to you.
