What Is This Weirdness in the Gym?

The gym has a lot of weirdness. If you’re a beginner, the mystery is: is this a £ 45 bar? Why is there a small wheel with handles in the corner? As you get more advanced or move to more interesting gyms, you will start to see more things. Chalk. Rods with handles of an unusual shape. Belts, bandages, ropes.

We want to clarify some of your questions, so first, check off the weird things you see in your gym. It could be equipment that the gym owns or that people bring in. It could be a complete mystery or something where you know what it is , just not whether it is worth using.

For example: My gym has a bucket of different items between the dumbbell area and the area where you can do pull-ups. There is a belt with a chain attached; this is so that you can hang the weight on your hips during the pull-ups. I played around with this and was able to guess correctly how to put on weight. If you dig deep enough, this bucket also contains a regular weightlifting belt . But for a long time I was puzzled by this item : a curved piece of metal with a strap dangling from it, which just didn’t make sense. Finally, one day I saw that the guy was using him: it turns out that hekeeps your elbows in the right position while you do biceps curls .

So what confuses you about the gym? Or do you see something that other people are using but can’t figure out if you should try it? Let us know and we will try to answer your questions in one of the following posts.
