How to Get Refunded for Discontinued Bose Sleepbuds

If you bought a pair of Bose Sleepbuds for $ 250 to help you sleep better, you should know that Bose has just discontinued its Sleepbuds noise-masking headphones and is offering customers a full refund.

Bose released a statement on its website explaining that while many Sleepbuds users were able to use the headphones to achieve their sleep goals, other users “had a very different experience”:

You have reported problems with incomplete charging of your sleepbuds ™, unexpected power outages, or both. And you let us know. We heard you.

After testing various solutions, including replacing Sleepbuds and updating software / firmware, Bose determined that there is an underlying problem with the Sleepbuds battery:

[…] we learned that while the battery we chose works safely, it does not perform as consistently or predictably as it should meet our standards.

Because of this issue, Bose is discontinuing its Sleepbuds product and offering a full refund to anyone who purchased the Sleepbuds kit. If you would like to take advantage of this offer , please request a refund by December 31, 2019. You will have to turn in Sleepbuds to receive a refund; keep an eye on the UPS prepaid label email and expect a refund check to arrive 4-6 weeks after Bose receives your returned product.

If you are happy with your Sleepbuds and want to keep using them, Bose supports this solution (“If your Sleepbuds are still working, we recommend that you keep using them”).

You should also be aware that Bose claims that its new Sleepbuds are “less prone to problems” than older Sleepbuds, so if you have a pair of glitchy Sleepbuds and would rather take the risk of getting a newer pair than claiming a refund this one option. Bose will continue to replace defective devices as long as there is stock. They estimate they will run out of new Sleepbuds in early 2020, so request a replacement now if you like.

If you purchased Bose Sleepbuds, are you getting the sleep you want or are you having battery problems? Are you going to ask for a refund, roll the dice for another pair, or keep the Sleepbuds you have?
