There Are 99 Days Left in the Year. What’s Your Solution?

This is the first day of a new season, which means now is a great time to start something new.

Today there are 99 days left in the year. As Outside Magazine reminds us, you’ll have plenty of time to remind yourself of what you hoped to achieve in 2019 and see if any of those goals are worth revisiting or updating.

Remember the first week of January when you made a list of everything you would like to do this year? You had plans! Goals! Ambition! How are you now that your twentieth anniversary is almost over? Yes, we do too. Don’t ever worry. Now is not the time to dwell on opportunities missed over the year – rather, you should take advantage of new ones.

In addition, for many of us, autumn is associated with new beginnings. School starts (for ourselves or for our children), we change clothes, we change scented candles from “ocean breeze” to “pumpkin breeze” and so on. It’s time to reflect on what we want to do differently, even if the only thing we want to change is “give ourselves more time to think.”

It’s also a good time to look back at all the New Year’s resolutions we hoped to stick with in January and pick one – just one! – to be performed in the last few months of the year. (Don’t get overly ambitious; you’ll be busy enough with your school, your kids’ school, or your boss’s announcement that the company has revised its 2019 targets and also hopes to get a lot of work done over the next 99 days.)

And if now is not the right time to start a new habit, don’t worry – the first day of winter will come before you know it.
