Find Your Next Favorite Podcast Using Pod Search

My official way to find new podcasts is to just ask friends. For the most part, while I was out hunting, a few conversations led me to my next favorite thing. Most of my friends seem to have the same plan, which means that eventually we reach a point where everyone listens to and loves the same podcasts, but we have absolutely no idea what to listen to next.

Pod Search is exactly what it sounds like: a podcast search engine. The website and mobile app lets you search for podcasts by topic, check out recently launched podcasts, and see which “best” podcasts everyone else is listening to.

Categories include business, comedy, education, health and fitness, crime and the law, pop culture, religion, and more. You can also search by keyword if, in particular, you are looking for something.

When you find something interesting, you can listen to a demo onsite to get a feel for it and decide if it’s right for you.

When you find something that you like, the service links to all the places where you can potentially listen to it.

For example, Serial Season 1, which renewed my personal love for podcasts (and probably a million others), can be found on Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Pandora, and Podbay.

Serial shares a page with links to other podcasts by the same group. The idea, of course, is that if you like one, you might like the other.

While you certainly can’t beat a recommendation from a friend who knows your style, if you’re short on suggestions, the site can be a great place to scoop up a few new podcasts to try them out.

Update: It looks like we have overloaded the service. If you have problems, wait a day or two and try again.
