“No one offers as much support as Alex Trebek,” says designer and 30-year-old Jeopardy! Observer Rex Sorgatz. Inspired by Trebek’s fight against pancreatic cancer and the myth that Trebek is a “smug snob,” Sorgats created Trebek’s Statement Board.
Click any square on this Jeopardy! board and get word of encouragement from Trebek, taken from an episode of the show. It’s like an advent calendar for a month of good days. One square says, “God, you started off great!” One says: “Well done!” Many people say “Yes!” There is even a category of comforting words for members who are wrong.
As Sorgats said on his Twitter thread about the project, “Trebek seems to really love giving away money. Instead of rebuking rivals (as is often claimed in myths), he energetically supports them. ” Trebek wishes you well. He wants us all to be successful.
