Use the Tools Supplied With Your Solution to Remove the Insert
Even though Instant Pot and I have been together for a while, he still finds ways to surprise me every now and then. For example, when A.A. Newton found that small tabs on the side of the lid were designed to keep it from the counter .
But now there is one more little trick. The two small scoops / spoons that come with your pressure cooker do more than stir and scoop. They have small sponges at the ends of their handles that you can use to remove the hot insert from the pan. This is especially useful if your recipe contains a lot of hot liquid, as you do not need to clumsily grasp the edge of the insert with your gloved hand, being careful not to dip it into the insert. I would of course still recommend wearing mittens because, as I mentioned, this insert is hot, but at least you don’t need to grab it with a mitten that feels uncomfortable (and potentially wet).
