How to Fix Pokemon Go Latest Frame Rate Crash on Certain Android Phones

According to numerous Reddit posts and Twitter threads, the latest Pokemon Go update (version 0.151.0) introduced a bug that affects phones with higher refresh rates. Depending on your preference, this can cause a noticeable decrease in the quality of your Pokémon hunt.

Previously, players using the Razer Phone or One Plus 7 Pro were able to play the game at a higher frame rate:

The game now appears to be locked at 30fps, regardless of the specs of your fancy phone:

As Android Police points out , you can restore support for higher refresh rates by rolling back the Pokemon Go app to version 0.151.0, but this trick will only work for a limited time; older versions will eventually stop working and you will have to update if you want to continue playing.

However, if you want to try:

  1. Uninstall Pokemon Go by pressing and holding the app icon on the launch screen, then tapping App Information> Uninstall App . Alternatively, you can drag the app to the top of the screen and drop it onto the trash can icon.
  2. Download Pokemon Go version 0.151.0 from trusted source like APK Mirror
  3. Once the download is complete, tap the file to start the installation. You may need to allow installation from unknown sources.
  4. After reinstalling the app, launch it and support for high refresh rates should be restored.

Interestingly, some players praise the bug. We’re not too keen on Pokemon Go, but obviously playing with a higher refresh rate can make it a little harder to catch Pokemon:

If or when Niantic fixes this bug and restores support for high refresh rates, you can actually tweak the Tasker profile , which can automatically drop the game’s frame rate to a lower value when you bring it up – 60fps, for example – to make it a little easier. throw Pokeballs exactly the way you want.
