The latest beta version of Android 10 – Android 10 Beta 6 – is now available for developers and enthusiasts. This build gives us an almost complete picture of what the public release of Android 10 will look like, which now includes some of the tweaks that Google makes to its Camera app.

The biggest changes to Android 10 so far include new gesture controls and general UI tweaks, but many other core Android apps and features are getting updates as well. Here are some of the main differences we noticed with the Google Camera app:

  • Night mode is now available directly from the main menu , taking the place that was previously occupied by the “Panorama” mode. The app will still display that annoying pill notification prompting you to turn on Night Mode if the image is too dark, although it will now be much easier to use in the first place.
  • White balance and color temperature adjustment have been completely removed from the app. It’s time to switch to a more powerful app if you need these controls.
  • Front-panel flash control has been simplified to an on / off switch, and the feature has been renamed to “Lighting” as it doesn’t actually use flash, but rather increases the brightness of the phone screen to act like an ersatz flash lamp.

It’s safe to say that these changes will be carried over to the full version, which is expected to launch in the coming weeks. Owners of any Pixel phone can get a feel for the new camera user interface and all the other features of Android 10 by participating in the Android beta program .
