The HP YouTube Channel Has Become a Treasure Trove of Tech Support and Craftsmen.

Either some intern has the most boring summer in Silicon Valley, or the HP YouTube team has gone crazy for power. Whatever the reason, the company has been on YouTube lately, uploading hundreds of detailed technical support videos covering countless ways to disassemble, fix, and otherwise tamper with its many laptops, desktops and other products.

In fact, I would even say that if you have a problem with your HP laptop or want a little tutorial on how to do something more intense for the average user (like replacing their hard drive or memory), you should completely ignore HP’s website and just go to their YouTube channel.

If you’re more serious about the little things, the HP YouTube channel is a goldmine for tutorial videos on how to tinker with most of the important internals of any HP product you own. Looking to replace your entire display with the HP EliteBook x360 1040 G5? Easy – well, it looks simple in the video, at least:

Admittedly, the HP videos overlook some important steps, such as the advice to “remove the motherboard,” but do not show a human attacking the many screws that secure it to your system. Nevertheless, I appreciate the brevity of the video: you get the basic facts coldly, almost like it was done in style. Even if you don’t have a lot of experience picking up expensive items, you (probably) won’t feel very lost – and following HP’s help can save you an expensive trip to the repair shop if you’ve somehow purchased a replacement. the parts you need.

Instead of browsing through many HP tech videos, make sure you use YouTube’s easy-to-use channel search feature. I forget about that too, but it’s easy to find. Find the magnifying glass to the right of the “About” label on any channel page. Click it, enter the name of any HP product you want to search for, and you can quickly see if HP has downloaded any disassembly videos.

I would not recommend subscribing to this channel as it will flood your YouTube channel if HP continues to download speeds. Instead, bookmark it so you can always consult with it if or when you want to start experimenting with the details of your laptop.
