Celebrate the Solstice With This Summertime Cocktail

Happy summer solstice, cats and kittens! Today is not only the longest day of the year, but also the official start of summer, or, as we call it, “the season of crimson”. What is a terrace pusher, you ask? It’s very simple: a summer drink that breaks down too easily is best eaten outdoors. And boy, I have one for you.

Some people think of summer drinks as fruity drinks, but I love having botanical, almost piquant herbal notes in my drinks that balance and refresh. Aquavit is perhaps the easiest way to add this element to your drinks in warm weather. Combine with grapefruit and a little Lillet Blanc for a compelling patio to enjoy even after the solstice. To make it you will need:

  • 1 1/4 oz Aquavit
  • 30 g fresh grapefruit juice
  • 3/4 oz Lillet Blanc

Mix everything in an ice shaker (or in one large cube) and shake until your jar is too cold to hold comfortably. Pull yourself up in the compartment, find a patio, and have a drink to conquer the city.
