Add People to GIFs With the Morphin Android App

iOS, Android : You have several options if you want to superimpose your face (or those of your friends) on top of the next big meme. You can go for treatment in South Park where you slap a huge cutout of your own head over the head of whoever is in the GIF you are trying to mess with. It’s easy , even if it looks a little rough.

I have also played around with the Morphin app for iOS and Android , which is currently in beta. Instead of using the approach of sticking your face on top of their face, it converts the entire GIF into a CGI scene by inserting your head (or the head of anyone in your photo library) instead of the one in the GIF. The results, while a bit rough, are still fun:

The app itself couldn’t be easier to use. You will need to create an account before you can start creating GIF scenes, but I appreciate the creativity of Morphin’s tutorial, which simulates a chat between you and the app:

You will take a quick selfie with your face and choose a .GIF to follow. Morphin will begin creating the CGI scene, giving you the opportunity to play around while you wait for the process to complete – usually less than ten seconds.

From there, you can save the .GIF file generated by the app to your photo library or share it with other services. The latter didn’t work very well for me, but I’ll write it off as the app is still a little buggy. It’s weird that you need to share at least three GIFs before you can use Morphin’s complete GIF library, but I hope the app fixes this weird limitation in future updates. (I got it over with just making and saving three GIFs. Easy.)

To Morphine’s credit, they do have a pretty decent list of popular GIFs to choose from – at least I’ve always wanted to be Khaleesi.

And I appreciate that you don’t even need to use your own face if you don’t want to. You can challenge anyone in your photo library; Oddly enough, Morphin offers a pre-made selection of celebrity faces that you can use. So you can pull Benioff and Weiss and really ruin the Game of Thrones finale:
