Start Your Long Weekend With a Martini Maraschino

Holidays, especially during the summer, are often associated with barbecues and beer. I’m always ready to eat some kebab, but beer makes me sneeze and I don’t understand why I have to change my drinking habits for one long weekend.

But martini – my most frequently consumed drink – is not very sunny. In fact, I drink most of my time sitting in dark bars trying to avoid the small talk around my tattoos. As far as martini mods go, most of the additives tend to be salty (as in dirty) or even more drunk (as in vodka-y vesper ). To make mine even a little brighter, I decided to add some of my favorite cherry liqueur – Luxardo maraschino.

To be clear, I don’t recommend you waste it all weekend. While this is a friendlier and more attractive martini, it is still a martini and you should at least alternate with cans of La Croix. To make this fruity strong drink you will need:

  • 2 1/4 ounce dry gin
  • 3/4 ounce dry vermouth
  • 1/4 oz Luxardo maraschino liqueur

Pour everything into a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until the glass is very, very cold. Sit in your compartment, enjoy the leisurely pace, and then chase after something moisturizing. Repeat as needed over the long weekend.
