Volunteer (and Get Paid for It) With the American Airlines App

If you’re flying on American Airlines now, you can literally pay for early check-in.

American Airlines recently updated its app to allow customers to voluntarily cancel flights directly in the app, according to The Points Guy . If your flight is oversold, you will see this option when you go to check-in.

The ability to volunteer to participate in the app is already available to United, Delta and American customers starting May 3rd. American is taking it a step further, however, by allowing you to not only volunteer, but be compensated for that hit right in the app without having to visit the ticket office.

When you are selected as a volunteer, you will receive in-app compensation and will be able to select a replacement flight.

The idea here is that you can volunteer and be selected to fly on a later flight even before you get to the airport, saving you the hassle of going through security and the hassle of waiting in line at the gate to make sure you choosed. Yes, you will miss out on bargaining with an agent on board to get more cash, but you will also miss out on the opportunity to go to the airport only to end up spending hours there or head home to wait for your flight. another day.
