When to Book the Cheapest Memorial Day Flights
Memorial Day will come in a few weeks. If you are planning a weekend trip, now is the time to pay attention to airline tickets.
Kayak released the Travel Hacker Awards this week for the best travel tips of 2019, including information on when to book Memorial Day tickets and when you’ll get the best deals this summer for everything from hotels to car rentals.
For Memorial Day, Kayak recommends booking a domestic flight to depart on Saturday and return home on Tuesday. In those days, the average round-trip airfare was $ 232. It notes that for some cities, you can also save up to 40% on one-way ticket bookings rather than a round trip.
This one-way rule is not the same for everyone, but it is worth at least checking before booking to see if there is a price difference between booking a single ticket or traveling back and forth.
In terms of where you should go, the site has a list of the most affordable destinations , as well as the average airfare for each. Please be aware that this is the average airfare, so your mileage may vary.
However, it is the best choice for Domestic Memorial Day weekend travel – Hilo, Hawaii; Baltimore, Maryland; Boston, Massachusetts, and Maui, Hi. All four have an average flight for Memorial Day under $ 250.
