Check for Flight Delays Before Departure Today

Heading to the airport this morning? You may want to double (or even triple) check your flight departure times before checking into your boarding gate.

Today, major airlines including American, Delta, Jetblue, Southwest and United Airlines are reporting system-wide issues that cause delays of up to two hours for some passengers stuck on the runway.

In a tweet, American Airlines said the problem stems from a shutdown of AeroData, software that measures weight and balance so the flight can take off safely. Southwest , however, said the issues have been resolved since then, and Delta has confirmed that the data is now working as usual, with no cancellation plans.

However, in response to the news, the FAA tweeted that passengers should contact their airline directly for flight information and any necessary updates (and only one airport in Florida reported 55 delays this morning).

What should be done before going to the airport? Call your airline and download your airline’s app as soon as possible to get updates. Checking Twitter for your airport isn’t such a bad idea either – you might come across a few disgruntled flyers with helpful information.
