Get Sunbathing With an Orangeberry Cocktail

If life in the Pacific Northwest has given me anything, it is understanding the seasons. While I’ve always maintained that I hate heat and love cold, living somewhere with barely real winter and the slightest snow has taught me that I just don’t like any environmental extremes and made spring my favorite time of the year.

Basically, it all boils down to being a temperamental houseplant. I want to feel like a sun kiss, but not warm, refreshed, but not cold. Basically, I want to model my surroundings after the Orangina cocktail, which is similar to the Aperol spritz, only with a lot more gin and Campari instead of Aperol. (Although you can use Aperol if you want.) Orangina provides a mild carbonation and understated creamy vibe, while Campari adds a touch of bitterness and gin provides gin (the most important ingredient). To make it you will need:

  • 1 1/2 ounce gin
  • 1/2 oz Campari
  • About 2 ounces of orange

Combine gin and campari in a glass with ice and stir to cool. Strain into a glass of champagne, top with Orangina and set off for a sunny spot.
